The Reserve Bank of India has increased risk weights for consumer credit exposure in commercial banks, including personal loans, by 25 percentage points to 125%. This comes after warning about the risks of surging personal loans. Unsecured loans have been an outlier at 23%, compared to an average of 12%-14%. This has led to record borrowing and household savings dropping to multi-year lows.

Jio Financial Services on Thursday said the Reserve Bank has granted prior approval to appoint Isha Mukesh Ambani and two others as directors of the Reliance Industries' NBFC firm. While 94% of consumer respondents globally remain concerned about the cost of living, almost 89% are also concerned about climate change, according to the 13th edition of the EY Future Consumer Index (FCI), which surveyed more than 22,000 consumers across 28 countries.

The tax, levied in the form of Special Additional Excise Duty or SAED, on domestically produced crude oil was increased to INR 9,800 per tonne from INR 9,050 a tonne, according to an official notification on October 31 with effect from November 1. Further, the SAED on the export of diesel was reduced to INR 2 per litre from INR 4 a litre.
