Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL) and Intas Pharmaceuticals, both Indian companies, are reportedly in the race to acquire the biosimilar products portfolio of Biogen, a US-based biotech company. Samsung Bioepis is also said to be a candidate for the acquisition. Biogen had sold off its stake in Samsung Bioepis last year. DRL has been aggressively expanding its biosimilars portfolio globally and has launched several products in India and emerging markets.

The export duty on diesel was slashed to INR 5.50 per litre from 6 per litre earlier and reduced duty on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to INR 3.50 per litre from the earlier INR 4 litre. The new rates will be effective from September 16. Export duty on Petrol will remain nil.

The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition seeking a review of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal's (NCLAT) order allowing bankruptcy proceedings against ND's Art World Pvt Ltd, a company owned by late art director Nitin Desai and his widow Naina Desai. The dismissal clears the way for recovery proceedings against the company, which owes Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Co. around Rs 300 crore.

"Index for the year ending March 2023 has since been prepared. India is in talks with 22 countries to conduct bilateral trade in the Indian rupee, according to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. India has taken measures to encourage the use of the rupee for international transactions, including establishing special rupee vostro accounts with domestic banks and granting permission for banks from 18 countries to open Special Vostro Rupee Accounts.
